Dr Kague is a group leader at the Centre for Genomic and Experimental Medicine at the Institute of Genetic and Cancer of the University of Edinburgh. She was awarded a Versus Arthritis Career Development Fellow and started her laboratory in 2023 with the goal to investigate the genetics of osteoarthritis and the role of osteocytes in disease progression. Dr Kague has extensive experience in the field of bone research and in using zebrafish as model systems to study bone diseases.  The model organism is the main biological system used in her current research. Dr Kague has received her PhD from the Genetics Department of the University of São Paulo (Brazil), she was a postdoctoral at the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of Pennsylvania (USA), and worked as a Senior Researcher at the University of Bristol (UK).
