The Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) extends our gratitude to everyone who submitted an abstract for the OARSI 2026 World Congress on Osteoarthritis. Your contributions are instrumental in advancing OA research and shaping the future of the field.

Submission Timelines
Original Abstract Submission
- Mid-September 2025 – Online submission site opens.
- November 19, 2025 – Online submission deadline.
- January 2026 – Abstract status notifications sent.
Late Breaking Abstract Submission
- January 2026 – Online submission site opens.
- February 11, 2026 – Online submission deadline.
- Mid-February 2026 – Late breaking abstract status notifications sent.
Abstract Preparation Checklist
- Abstract prepared and formatted as outlined in the SUBMISSION PROCEDURES section. Abstracts that are not properly prepared and formatted are subject to automatic rejection.
- Original and late breaking abstracts (subject to acceptance) will be presented and placed (oral podium presentation or poster presentation) by the OARSI Program Planning Committee.
- License is granted to the OARSI to publish the abstract (subject to acceptance) online.
- Designated presenting author registered for the OARSI 2026 World Congress and has paid the registration fee. All abstract submitters including presenting authors are expected to pay their own travel expenses and Congress registration fee(s).
Submission Guidelines
Abstract Categories
Abstract categories are used by the OARSI Program Planning Committee to classify abstracts for review and organization of the final abstract program. You must submit your abstract to one of the following categories below:
- Advanced Bioinformatics in OA and Clinic
- Biomarkers
- Biomechanics & Gait
- Clinical Digital Innovations, Implementation Research and Health Services
- Early Stage OA and Prevention
- Epidemiology, Clinical Aspects & Outcomes
- Functional Genomics in OA
- Imaging Phenotypes and Outcomes
- Imaging: Methods and Innovations
- Immunology in OA
- Innovative Therapeutics
- Joint Related Tissues
- Mechanistic Studies of OA
- Multi-Omics Characterization of OA
- OA in the Spine and Other Joints
- Pain: From Mechanistic to Clinical Aspects
- Pharmacological Innovations
- Pre-clinical and Developmental Models
- Rehabilitation Medicine & Non-Pharmacological Innovations

Abstract Results
- Please do not include statements such as “the results will be discussed” or “data will be presented and discussed” within your conclusion, as these are NOT acceptable.
Fees
- The Cost per abstract submission is $35 USD.
- The submission fee is required at the time of submission and is accepted by online credit card payment only.
- A submission is not complete without payment.
- Payment will be displayed as “OARSI” on credit card statements.
Character Limit
- The maximum character limit is 5,000.
- The character limit includes title, abstract body, spaces, tables, images and image tables.
- An Image File can have a maximum file size of UP TO 50 megabytes (MB) which will reduce the character count by a maximum of 560 characters.
- Each abstract can have a maximum of 4 Image files.
- Each row of a Table will reduce character size by 50 characters.
- Each abstract can have a maximum of 2 separate tables.
- An Image File can have a maximum file size of UP TO 50 megabytes (MB) which will reduce the character count by a maximum of 560 characters.
Online Submission
- Abstracts must be submitted online through the OARSI abstract submission portal managed by ScholarOne.
- No paper submissions will be accepted.
View / Edit / Withdraw Your Abstract
- You may view, edit, or withdraw your abstract submission(s) by logging into the OARSI online abstract portal.
- Abstract submissions may be edited or withdrawn until November 19, 2025.
Presentation Status Notification
- Acknowledgement of submission will be emailed to the presenting author as the primary contact.
- The presenting author will be notified of the original abstract status in January 2026.
- The presenting author will be notified of the late breaking abstract status in February 2026.
Presentation Format
- Accepted original and late breaking abstracts are presented in plenary, oral podium or poster presentation format.
OARSI World Congress Registration
- All oral and poster abstract presenting authors must register for the OARSI World Congress and pay the registration fee.

LEARN HOW TO PREPARE AND SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT
Audience
The OARSI World Congress on Osteoarthritis is designed for academia and industry, including basic scientists, clinical investigators, radiologists, rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, physicians in physical medicine and rehabilitation, allied health professionals, and policy makers.
The Congress attracts over 1,000 attendees from more than 40 countries to learn of the latest in research advancements, innovations, clinical trials, and new product introductions.
Format & Layout
- The OARSI World Congress is presented in English and therefore abstract submissions are to be written in English.
- Each abstract submission must confirm to the format & layout below.
Title
- The abstract title should be brief, in CAPITAL LETTERS, and should give a clear indication of the exact nature of the research and refer to the actual content of the abstract.
- Do not use abbreviations in the title.
Abstract Body Layout
Please organize the abstract body as follows:
- Purpose (the aim of the study)
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusions (Statements such as "the results will be discussed," or "data will be presented and discussed" are not acceptable.)
- DO NOT include titles, authors, or references in your abstract body.
- DO NOT include Images and Graphics in the abstract body as they can be uploaded separately.
Author Information
- There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit.
- When submitting your abstract, you will need to enter each abstract author's name, email, and institution.
- Each abstract author will receive a notification from the submission platform alerting them they have been listed as an abstract co-author.
- If an abstract is accepted, the presenter must be one of the co-authors listed.
- Communications will only be sent to the designated presenting author.
- Please indicate the presenting author by selecting the button next to the author's name during submission.
- The presenting author is responsible for delivering the in person oral or poster presentation at Congress.
- All abstract submitters including presenting authors are expected to pay their own travel expenses and Congress registration fee(s).
- If the abstract author is not already in the submission database, you will need to create an account with the following information and they will receive a notification from the submission platform alerting them an account has been created:
- Name
- Institution
- City, State/Provence, Country
- *IMPORTANT*: Please make sure the above information is entered correctly before creating a co-author account. Once created, the information can only be edited by the co-author or the OARSI Staff.
