I have been working in the bone and cartilage field for 2 decades. I have a masters in biochemistry and immunology, but transitioned into the OA field through my PhD thesis cartilage pathology. Since my PhD, my focus has been translational medicine and biochemical markers for prognosis, pharmacodynamics and endotyping - with emphasis on human OA. Although I as leader of a immunology group work with multiple inflammatory disorders, OA is the disease that I personally invest most in. It is a heterogenous disease that is in great need of a drug and we need biomarkers to find the patients with active and treatable disease.
