Sonia Nasi
University Hospital of Lausanne
Dre Sonia Nasi obtained her PhD in Life Sciences from the University of Lausanne and has extensively studied the mechanisms, effects and treatments of pathologic calcification in musculoskeletal diseases, such as osteoarthritis and chondrocalcinosis.
Dre Nasi then moved for a post-doc at the University of Münster, Germany, where she expanded her investigations into calcific tendinopathy.
Since 2021, she is Principal Investigator in the Laboratory of Rheumatology, CHUV. She explores how different factors, such as extracellular matrix changes, mitochondrial dysfunction and biomechanics are involved and can modulate pathologic calcification.
Finally Dre Nasi is strongly interested in translational research and in particular in discovering new molecules for the treatment of calcification disorders in men.
Her group routinely use in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo models to conduct experiments. The lab has access to an animal facility (mice), an imaging facility (microCT-scan, microscopy) and human samples (from the Orthopedic Hospital).
