Naoshi Fukui

Dr. Fukui obtained his MD degree from Tokyo University in 1986. Upon completion of his residency in 1993, he assumed the role of a staff physician in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tokyo University Hospital. In 1999, he joined Dr. Linda Sandell's laboratory at Washington University in St. Louis, USA, where he initiated research on OA. In 2002, he returned to Japan and assumed the role of a chief investigator at the Clinical Research Center of National Sagamihara Hospital. In 2011, he moved to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Tokyo University and was appointed a professor in 2013. Since 1999, Dr. Fukui has been engaged in research on the pathology of OA. In recent years, he has focused on the synovial changes associated with the disease.
