Naomi Simick Behera

Naomi is a physiotherapist and PhD candidate at the University of Sydney. Born in Kolkata, India, Naomi's clinical career began in rural India, which sparked her commitment to improving healthcare in rural and disadvantaged communities. Naomi later spent eight years working in a private clinic in rural Australia, where she developed a deep connection to the local community. Currently, she coordinates the multidisciplinary Osteoarthritis Chronic Care Program in the Hastings-Macleay region, Australia, striving to enhance care for individuals with osteoarthritis and foster better health outcomes.
Naomi’s research focuses on qualitative studies in rural Australia. Her work explores education and communication strategies to change the narrative around osteoarthritis to promote empowerment, active participation, and improved quality of life for those living with osteoarthritis .
Outside of her professional pursuits, Naomi loves art, music, and travel. She is always seeking to learn, grow, and make a positive impact on those around her.
