Natalia Harasymowicz

Dr. Natalia S. Harasymowicz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah, with adjunct appointments in Biomedical Engineering and Nutrition & Integrative Physiology. Her research focuses on defining how obesity, aging, and injury drive musculoskeletal disease through immune‑mediated mechanisms, particularly in osteoarthritis. Trained in biotechnology and biochemistry at Jagiellonian University, she earned her PhD in Clinical Science at the University of Edinburgh and completed postdoctoral training in orthopaedic research at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Harasymowicz leads an interdisciplinary laboratory integrating translational human studies, animal models, and single‑cell and gene‑based approaches to identify therapeutic strategies for obesity‑ and inflammation‑driven joint disease.
