Ilana Ackerman

Professor Ilana Ackerman is a musculoskeletal epidemiologist and health services researcher, and an experienced orthopaedic physiotherapist. She has developed and led a program of clinical and epidemiological research that has shaped our understanding of the current and anticipated future burden of osteoarthritis. Her program has focused on quantifying the personal and societal impacts of osteoarthritis, optimising patient outcome assessment, and evaluating joint replacement utilisation and outcomes. Ilana has also made a major contribution to osteoarthritis policy and guideline development through national and international advisory roles.
