Parris Longevity Accelerator, USC

The ultimate long-term goal of my research program is to advance our understanding of basic biology mechanisms and targets for successful development of novel therapeutic strategies for age-related disorders. The central concept in this context is focused on new approaches such as targeted delivery of stem and progenitor cells to replace missing tissue or stimulate regeneration or direct manipulation of progenitor cells, as well as stromal and immune cells by small molecules to enhance tissue regeneration and suppress fibrosis. I have been actively engaged in this line of research for over 15 years and co-author of numerous peer-reviewed research articles, including publications in the journals like Science Translational Medicine, PNAS, Nature, Blood, Nature Cell Biology, Nature Microbiology, Nature Communications, Aging Cell, Cell Stem Cell, Annals of Rhematic Diseases, Arthritis and Rheumatology and other, and multiple patents in this space. I have received more than $30M in research funding from NIH, DOD and CIRM as a Principal Investigator or Program Director since I moved to USC in 2015. I am a member of the National Academy of Inventors and co-founder of three start-up companies Plurocart and ReParris focused on development of innovative products in the area of human tissue regeneration, vitality and aging. As an acknowledgment of those achievements a I have recently received a $10M gift from Parris Family to start and direct a new Institute at USC named Parris Longevity Accelerator designed to advance therapeutic intervention for age-related diseases including Osteoarthritis.
