Cristina Ruiz Romero

Cristina Ruiz-Romero, PhD in Pharmacy, is a Senior Researcher at the Biomedical Research Institute of A Coruña (INIBIC), Spain, where she leads the Proteomics Unit of the Rheumatology Research Group. She is also Scientific Director of the NANBIOSIS Proteomics Unit (CIBER-BBN). Her research applies proteomic technologies, from mass spectrometry to high-throughput affinity-based approaches, to discover and validate biomarkers with the potential to improve the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of osteoarthritis and other rheumatic diseases, and to support precision medicine in these conditions. She has led more than 20 nationally funded projects and participated in international consortia focused on osteoarthritis research. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Proteomics Society, has served on the OARSI Board of Directors and currently chairs the OARSI Ethics and Governance Committee.
