Rui Yue

School of Life Sciences and Technology, Tongji University

Dr. Rui Yue is a tenured Professor of Tongji University, Department Chair of Molecular and Cell Biology, and Vice Dean of the School of Life Sciences and Technology. He graduated from Chu Kechen Honors College at Zhejiang University with a B.S. degree in Bioengineering (2005). He pursued his PhD degree in cell biology at Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with Prof. Gang Pei. After completing PhD (2011), he conducted postdoctoral research as a Damon Runyon Fellow with Prof. Sean Morrison at UT Southwestern Medical Center (2011-2016). The Yue laboratory is interested in dissecting how skeletal stem cells and hematopoietic stem cells interact in the bone marrow to mediate bone-blood crosstalk, their aging mechanisms and rejuvenation strategies. The Yue laboratory is also interested in discoverying novel skeletal stem cells in the extramedullary regions, such as the perichondrium, that mediate the crosstalk between bone and skeletal muscles, as well as their biochemical and mechanical regulation underlying skeletal development, aging and regeneration.
