Dr. Melissa Boswell is the Director of Bioengineering at the Joe Gibbs Human Performance Institute. Her research bridges advancements across bioengineering, computer science, psychology, and digital technology to understand and tackle significant problems in human health. She received her Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Stanford University in the Neuromuscular Biomechanics Laboratory, where she also completed her postdoctoral work. She is passionate about measuring movement as a biomarker, motivating physical activity, and increasing access to health care. Melissa values human-centered design and a holistic, lifestyle-focused approach to engineering and medicine. She also enjoys cultivating creativity and humor in work and life, sharing ideas, and communicating science, particularly on her podcast, Biomechanics On Our Minds.
