Laura C. Schmitt, PT, PhD is a Professor of Physical Therapy and Assistant Director of Clinical Translational Research in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Ohio State University.  Dr. Schmitt’s research seeks to improve outcomes for individuals following musculoskeletal knee pathology or injury. Her work evaluates neuromuscular control of the lower extremity to inform rehabilitation approaches and improve long-term joint health following traumatic knee injury and specifically, anterior cruciate ligament injury, resulting in over 90 publications and over 150 national/international presentations.  Her research is supported by the National Institutes of Health, NFL Charities Medical Research Grants, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthritis Foundation.  Dr. Schmitt currently serves as the President of the APTA Academy of Research.
