Ji Hyeon Ju

Ji Hyeon Ju, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Rheumatology at The Catholic University of Korea. Dr. Ju obtained his MD degree from the College of Medicine at The Catholic University in 1997, followed by an MS degree in 2008 and a PhD in 2012, both from The Catholic University. He holds a pivotal role as the Director of the Clinical Academic Committee of the Korea Society of Stem Cell Research (KSSCR) and serves as a board member of the Korean College of Rheumatology (KCR). In addition to his role in academia, he serves as the CEO of YiPSCELL, a biotechnology company dedicated to the development of stem cell-based treatments. The company specializes in producing stem cell lines derived from both normal individuals and patients using cutting-edge stem cell technology known as "induced pluripotent stem cell" (iPSC) targeting against osteoarthritis. Dr. Ju has received numerous awards. In 2022, he was honored with the Science and Technology Promotion Award by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Minister of Science and ICT Award, and the Health Industry Promotion Technology Commercialization Contribution Award by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Additionally, in 2020, he received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award and the Challenge K-Startup Award by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
