Jackie Whittaker

Dr. Jackie Whittaker is a Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia and a Senior Research Scientist at Arthritis Research Canada. As a physiotherapist and clinical epidemiologist, her research takes a lifespan approach to osteoarthritis prevention, with a particular focus on early-onset post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) following sport and recreational knee injuries. She co-leads the OARSI PTOA Discussion Group and is principal investigator of the Stop OsteoARthritis (SOAR) clinical trial. Her research spans clinical and implementation science, emphasizing international collaboration, partnerships with people with lived experience, and efforts to address sex- and gender-related inequities in the development of accessible, relevant, and effective interventions.
